The Stages of a painting

Here i show you the stages of painting, from the beginning to the finished painting. It is very important for an artist to get the perspective right in the original sketch. This is what makes the painting.

Blaze Staffordshire Bull Terrier

The original photo that blaze's owner chose for the portrait was lacking in some detail and the sun was glaring onto her white which made it difficult to see her markings. I used the 2nd photo to capture her detail and markings but still managed to get the pose from photo 1. Photographs can sometimes lie, and show things that are not true in blaze's case it was her colouring, she is more orangey red than the photos show.

Toby Rhodesian Ridgeback

I was lucky with this portrait as i have met Toby and his owner Marie many times at dog shows. Again the photo depicts Toby looking very orangey red whereas he is more light wheaten than the photo should suggest.

Dudley and Dooley Jack Russell Terriers

Dudley and Dooley were not actually pictured together and hardly sit still, unfortunately they are not too keen on the camera either. There owner managed to get some shots of them and requested that dudley they older male be more dominant in the picture than the younger bitch dooley, i put them together using photoshop and the owner had a preview of the set up first.
